Houseboat

Timeless lighting on the Amsterdam canals

Tom Bremer Riley van Loo Woonboot Bedrijfsverlichting 1

For this exceptional houseboat on the canals of Amsterdam, ONN lighting provided a full lighting solution that highlights both history and modern luxury. The vessel, a classic tjalk, was fully restored to its original 1896 form and transformed with a refined, hotel chic interior where lighting plays a key role.

The process

We developed a complete lighting plan for the entire living space, selecting and supplying fixtures that complement the ship’s unique architecture. From LED strips that follow the curved lines of the hull, to recessed lighting in the living area, every element was chosen to support both form and function.

In the open cockpit, custom feature fixtures add visual focus, while subtle lighting details throughout the interior maintain a sense of quiet luxury. Every fixture is individually controlled via Casambi, offering flexibility and ease throughout the space. The result is a floating home where light supports comfort, character and craftsmanship.
