Royal Delft Museum
Shining our light on Dutch heritage
Dutch craftsmanship has been on display in the Royal Delft Museum since 1653. Lighting here had to do more than just show the collection, it had to fit the story of the museum. We were asked to provide a solution that highlights the iconic “Delfts Blauw” ceramics while preserving the atmosphere of this historic site.
The process
We started by filling in the existing lighting plan with carefully selected products, keeping flexibility as a key requirement. Since exhibitions can change over time, the lighting setup needs to adapt accordingly. That’s why we selected 3 phase rails and combined them with the Light4U Surt track spots. Within the rails, the track spots can be repositioned and redirected, making this ideal for museum environments.
To sharpen the light and prevent spill, we added Light4U barndoors, perfect for directing attention to specific details. For paintings and other artworks that require precise framing, we used Linea Light profile spots. These spots allow us to illuminate only the artwork itself, without lighting the wall around it, making each piece stand out.
Beyond design and supply, we supported the installation process and continue to assist the museum team on-site with repositioning fixtures for new exhibitions.
